The
Arts Guild's Art-in-the-Park Children's Workshop is a program sponsored by the Guild
every year in June. In 2005 the program began at 8:00 A.M. and
went to 10:00 A.M. Monday
through
Friday with Friday being parents day. On Friday parents came to see the children's
work and everybody had lunch. The program was targeted for young people ages 5 -
12 years of age. Instructors had several different projects going every day. The theme
this year was animals. Projects included a making a paper mache chicken,
paintings made using fish as a stamp, clay objects, drawings, rubbings with found
objects, and paintings. The program ended with the children, parents,
and instructors visiting Don Shadow's farm to see the his exotic
animals.
The City of
Winchester donated the use of a
pavilion at the park for
the program and some area businesses donated money and supplies. The fee for the program
was $35.00 per child for the week.
The group was limited to approximately 20
children.
Guild members
donated their time as instructors and helpers.
