On
June 24 the Franklin County Arts Guild was host for another SWEET
TOOTH THEATER.
Performing at the theater was THE SOUTH JACKSON STREET
BAND. Everyone there seemed to enjoy the desserts and the
performance as many folks got up and tried out the new dance
floor.
The
band was founded in the early Seventies by Bob Carter of
Tullahoma, TN.
The South Jackson Band has established a name for itself as
one of the finest Big Band repertory groups in the Middle
Tennessee area.
This band has built its reputation from quality
performance, outstanding musicianship, and extensive repertoire.
Bringing
the music of the Big Band era to life is the joy of its highly
talented, professional musicians.
They have championed the Big Band art form by offering a
repertoire of over 300 songs from Glen Miller and Artie Shaw to
the music of Duke Ellington and Elton John.
The
band features five Saxophones, three to four Trumpets, four
Trombones, Drums, Keyboard, Rhythm/Lead guitar, Bass Guitar, and
male and female vocalists.
Each musician’s intense desire to bring to life the music
of the Big Band era makes for an evening of pure musical bliss.
The
site was the Cowan Center for the Arts (the old Baptist Church)
301 Montgomery Street, Cowan, TN, Saturday, June 24 from 7:00 PM
to 9:00 PM with a ticket price of $20.00 a person.
