ART IN THE PARK

The Franklin County Arts Guild has again hosted an “Art in the Park” children’s art workshop. Seventeen young people attended the Guild’s third annual art workshop in the Winchester City Park during the week of July 10.

The theme this year was Myth and Fantasy. The young people enjoyed a week of creating mythical figures and magical objects. They made fantasy plaster facemasks, sock figures, paintings and printed objects using several methods and different materials.

One of the most popular activities was tie-dyeing tee shirts. The young people dyed tee shirts that they wore on the last day of Art In The Park. Everyone--students, teachers, and helpers--enjoyed the opportunity to be outside learning new art forms and making interesting art projects.

The City of Winchester donated the use of a pavilion at the park for the program and Duck River Electric Company donated some money for supplies. The fee for the program was $40.00 per child for the week.

Guild members donated their time as instructors and helpers.
